Voice Lessons with Chris
Do you wish you could sing confidently?
Connect with others in a deeper, more meaningful way through singing?
Nurture your growth as a person through singing?
You're not alone, and although the journey towards these results isn't always easy, you're here, which means for the first time you can have what you need to thrive as a singer.
Having started with no natural ability in singing, I also was fortunate to not be aware of my lack of singing ability. I sang because of what singing did for me. Then I sang to become a better version of myself, singing and beyond. In that process, I found that special mix of realistic honesty and faith in what's possible for singing & singers like me. Although it's been awe-inspiring to see what singers enrolled in my programs have accomplished, I can see why most singers start singing with a mindset, a practice routine and exercises that set them up for failure and disappointment.
So in our singing programs, you and I will work together to see the whole picture when it comes to singing. You will see how your approach to practice, technique and building new vocal habits have come from many myths and dogma about singing that simply aren't true, in addition to many techniques meant to make you feel more confident in singing that simply don't work.
Instead, we'll look at not only exercises and techniques for singing confidently that have science to back them up, but also what that looks like in the day-to-day practice.
The power of developing your singing isn't just that you'll be able to sing: it's that you'll be more fully human. You'll understand what it really takes to change an old habit into a new one, to do what matters to you even when your self-doubts try to hold you back, to open your heart and be vulnerable, to honor the small things. My passion in teaching is to help you see a microcosm of yourself through your singing journey, so that you learn deeper lessons about yourself through something rather fun, like singing, at the same time you are building the skills of singing.
In addition to going deep, having a better self-awareness of yourself and learning to nurture your own growth as a singer and person, singing can also empower you to connect with others in a deeper way. So through the Singer's Workshop, the SynergisticSinging community challenges you to take the leap and connect with other singers just like you; to start from just making sounds in a group setting, to singing a single note, to singing your first phrase.

Do You Ever Feel Like You Have No Idea What You're Doing When You Sing? Let's Change Singing Frustration into Exciting Exploration! Yay! 🙂
You're not alone! Having faced that same issue when I first started singing I designed voice lessons in a way that helps you be very clear on fact vs. fiction when it comes to singing. This COMPLETELY changes everything. Instead of blaming yourself or labeling yourself as a "bad singer", you clearly see that every sound is a skill that can be learned. So now instead of feeling stuck and having no idea what to do, singing is an exciting adventure exploring all the possibilities in your voice! 😀 So in singing we focus on helping you sense your own singing habits, then getting to know how your voice works so you know exactly what to do to progress as a singer.
Freedom to Sing Your Favorite Music, No Prescribed Genres!
If you're like a lot of beginning singers, you may be wondering if you need to have a certain amount of natural ability before you can learn how to sing. You can absolutely learn how to sing, even if you're starting from scratch! I develop your voice lesson plan from the ground up based on your current vocal habits, your musical tastes and singing aspirations. Often times voice lessons work with a prescribed genre that the teacher picks. Voice lessons with me are totally different. I get to know exactly what you like and we immediately work towards those musical tastes. So don't worry, if you're a country guy at heart, you won't be required to sing opera 😉 and vice versa.
Feel Clarity on What To Do With Hands-On, Concrete Techniques
I work with singers from all skill levels with hands-on, concrete vocal techniques based on the science of how your voice actually works. I tailor exercises to fit exactly your current skill level, habits, goals and style as a singer. When I first started singing, I had no natural talent for singing (in fact I had to learn how to match pitch) so everything that I have learned and teach is from scratch.
Freedom to Use Any Vocal Technique That Works for You
One technique in singing may work beautifully for one person and totally not work at all for another person. You are as unique as a snowflake, and likewise your vocal habits and way of learning will be unique to you. 🙂 Where as most voice lessons you sign up for will be limited to one or couple of ways to work with vocal technique, voice lessons with me are completely open to all techniques. So you're not going to learn a technique that doesn't seem to work for you or doesn't make sense to you, instead we'll move through several different techniques until we find the one that fits you perfectly.

More About Chris
I started singing with absolutely zero natural singing ability, but an unshakeable curiosity about the human voice, a burning fire to express myself and a completely open mind. Many voice teachers and singers could already match pitch when they first started singing, I could not. So I truly learned how to sing from the ground up. This meant in order for me to get better, I had to learn the science of singing, separate opinion from fact and develop the skill of noticing/hearing good singing habits in action.
I hold my B.A in Voice from the University of North Texas. I was a member of UNT's A Capella Choir, ranked among the top five undergraduate choirs in the nation. I have worked with a range of vocal teachers from many backgrounds, from a metropolitan opera star to voice science academics to professional singer-songwriters. This breadth of experience and research over the last 15 years has enabled me to refine the art of teaching someone how to sing so that it is effective and feels good for the singer to do, no matter where they start. For me, seeing the joy on a student’s face when they are able to stay in tune for the first time, or hearing their excitement on the phone when they tell me they've won a $20,000 college vocal scholarship, makes it easy for me to say that I really love what I do!

“I can’t speak highly enough of Chris. He has far exceeded my expectations as a vocal coach. Before I met Chris I was skeptical that I could even become a better singer. I wasn’t sure if lessons would even make a difference. After a couple months of taking lessons with Chris...
