I help adult beginners express themselves through piano.
Piano Class Schedule
Lessons are scheduled for Sundays @ 3:00pm starting Oct 1st for 60min. The piano class semester is Oct-Dec. Cancellations require a 24hr minimum notice. As part of the subscription plan, you don't have to reserve this time, it is automatically reserved for you each week with a reminder text/email the day before. Here is the schedule of classes from Oct-Dec:

Piano Class Billing
You'll pay for a total of 10 classes, with 1 free class (potentially 2 if bad weather occurs) to allow for a reschedule. Your card will be charged on the 7th of each month for 3 payments of $157. You'll pay for the first month before classes begin, then again Oct 7th, then Nov 7th, then Dec 7th.

Do I need to bring my own piano-keyboard?
We'll have a keyboard available for you! No need to bring your own.
What if I don't have a piano-keyboard?
Keyboards for rent are available for $10 a month.
Where is the studio located? Do we have classes at the same place each time?
Yes, we'll have classes at the same place each time, map and address below!
Can children join the adult piano class?
Nope! This is a class to help adults have fun!
What do I need to bring to each class?
Students will need to bring their piano book to class, "Alfred's Basic Adult All-In-One Piano Course". If you paid for the book at our first lesson, then it will be ready for you at our first class. Going forward, you can bring that book every time.

This was the first time that piano lessons actually made sense to me! Chris walked me through the fundamentals in way that left the feeling like I actually had a relationship with the piano, that I could express myself through it with ease and brought the "play" back into learning to play. Instead of car, I wanted a piano...my piano story.
My first keyboard was hand-me-down keyboard from the 80's that my brother had given me after he lost interest in piano. As a misfit 13 year old who had just moved to Texas from another country, I found myself with long stretches of time, sitting on the couch, playing random notes on the keyboard. When I joined choir, I found ways to connect what I learned in choir to the piano...and little by little, I wore out that tiny keyboard as I slowly taught myself how to play simple melodies.
Piano became a place, an escape, to express feelings I didn't really have words to express. Little by little, I started playing chords and went from passively listening to a song I loved, to being totally immersed in the sensory experience of playing the song...where you hear and notice things you never noticed before about your favorite songs.
I loved piano because it gave me a deep sense of connection to my feelings and a way to relate to others that wasn't so steeped in competitiveness, putting up fronts. If I took out piano from the story of my life, I would also have to take out my deepest friendships...and my way forward to becoming my authentic self.
With such a deep passion for music that showed up in my love for singing and piano, you'd think I would have LOVED piano lessons...oh no, not at all...

Attentive, inspiring and supportive!
Chris is not your average music teacher. He has a real gift for teaching and an obvious calling to help people. It’s not his “day job.” During every lesson he is attentive, inspiring and supportive. And it seems like he knows what motivational issue I am having before I do. I’ve seen a lot of music teachers (mine and my kids’) and he is truly amazing.
FAQ
When are group piano classes offered?
Saturdays and Sundays, with a 1-on-1 consult to start. The next class starts in October 2023, but sign up for a 1-on-1 before then to save your spot!
We'll start by having a first piano lesson @ 50% (that you can schedule below) during this lesson, we'll get to know your story with music and with piano, what you'd love to learn and will set up a customized plan for lessons going forward. Through the group format, you'll see how you'll get the best of individual attention and group collaboration.
Each semester is 3 months long, with the first semester starting in October and ending in December. We are off on holidays.
How much are the group classes?
You'll have a total of 10 classes at $157 a month. You must sign up for the entire 3 month period.
Where are classes held?
Classes are held at the SynergisticSinging studio, located inside of Austin Strings in Northwest Austin by 183/Anderson Mill.
